Julia has successfully litigated thousands of cases throughout the state of Florida, ranging from commercial and homeowners first party property insurance claims, coverage disputes, and assignment of benefit cases. She has significant experience in the areas of insurance coverage litigation and allegations of bad faith. She has represented some of the most established individuals and companies on state and national levels in complex litigation.
Julia strives to provide clients with solutions to the myriad of issues they face in the course of their life and business. Some issues can be handled quickly, while others require litigation. Julia was born and raised in southern Virginia. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elon University in North Carolina and received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in Florida. Julia began her legal career with the 15th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s office where she tried numerous cases in county and circuit court. She has since worked in a small insurance defense firm in West Palm Beach as well as a state-wide Florida defense firm. She has handled and tried numerous claims to verdict. Julia is admitted in all courts throughout the State of Florida.
Gregory A. Kummerlen is a partner in Kummerlen Law PLLC and has been practicing in the state of Florida since 2002. Greg was an associate at Sellars, Marion & Bachi for two years whereby his entire practice was insurance defense primarily involving bodily injury cases. In 2004, Greg joined Wiederhold & Moses PA whereby again he focused his practice on civil insurance defense. Greg became a named partner in the firm of Wiederhold & Kummerlen PA. At the end of 2022 Wiederhold & Kummerlen PA dissolved and he joined Kummerlen Law PLLC.
Greg has Federal and State trial court experience and a significant amount of appellate experience. He has been lead counsel on numerous Civil cases including catastrophic cases involving serious bodily injury and death. Greg has represented clients in over fifty appeals in the State of Florida including Federal appeals. Greg handles lawsuits in several subject areas
including automobile and trucking liability, first party property, premises liability, wrongful death and civil rights.
Greg was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida and received his law degree from the University of Florida. Greg is admitted in all courts through the State of Florida along with the Federal Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jeanette Lugo has been an associate at Kummerlen Law PLLC since January of 2023. She has been practicing law in Florida since 2016. Jeanette began her practice in private practice at a civil firm and then joined the Public Defender’s Office for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit to gain valuable trial experience. Jeanette practiced in the misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony divisions at the Public Defenders office. Jeanette joined Wiederhold & Kummerlen, PA as an associate in 2020.
In addition to Jeanette’s trial court experience, she has also presented oral argument before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and written a number of answer briefs in Federal Court cases. Jeanette handles lawsuits in all areas of general liability, including transportation and personal injury, commercial litigation, wrongful deal, civil rights, and first party property.
Jeanette holds membership and leadership roles in several organization. Notably, she is an Executive Board Member for the Martin County Bar Association and Justice Major B. Harding American Inn of Court. She is also Co-Chair for the Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”) of the Martin County Bar Association. As Co-Chair for the YLD, Jeanette has applied for and received numerous grans from the Florida Bar to perform community service project that impact children, seniors, the homeless and our environment.
Jeanette was born and raised in New York. She received a full-tuition scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University and graduated Manga Cum Laude. She received her law degree from Michigan State University where she was a member of the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy team. Jeanette is admitted to practice law in all courts throughout the State of Florida, Federal Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.
John P. Wiederhold is a Board-Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and was the managing partner of Wiederhold & Kummerlen PA. After graduation from law school in December 1969, John fulfilled his military obligation in the United States Army. After being stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia and Seoul, Korea with the Signal Corps, John was honorably discharged in 1972 with the rank of Captain. John began his legal career in the Miami/ Fort Lauderdale area and was a partner with the Law Firm of Pomeroy, Betts & Wiederhold. In 1978 John came to West Palm Beach and opened his own law firm in 1983.
The focus of his practice is civil insurance defense. John has tried over 300 jury trials. In addition, John has argued before the Third, Fourth and Fifth District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court. John’s experience before these appellate courts has resulted in 80 reported appellate decisions. John has also provided expert opinion testimony on motions regarding fees.
On top of his distinction as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, John is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (“ABOTA”) which, at the time of John’s membership, required that an attorney have tried at least 100 jury trials to verdict. John’s reputation has earned him the preeminent “AV Rating” by Martindale Hubbell and inclusion in the elite list of “Super Lawyers of Florida” for the past several years.
He is a member of many organizations including the American Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. Further, John was the founding president of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Greater Palm Beach County and has been the treasurer of the local chapter of ABOTA for the past 20 years.
John was born and raised in South Florida. He received his undergraduate and law degree from the University of Florida. John is admitted to practice law in all courts throughout the State of Florida, Federal Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
